Slow Bloom: In The Dirt

Slow Bloom Studios garden & homestead are located in Southern Maine about 3 miles from the ocean. Oh, how lucky we are to be here. Maybe it’s the salty air or maybe it’s the crisp mornings that make gardening in Maine such a joy. I’ve been keeping my own garden for upwards of 4 years. Growing up, many memories were in the garden with my dad whom I can thank greatly for my passion and bits of wisdom.

Here on our little plot, we are working on 1/3 of an acre to grow gorgeous veggies, flowers and native plants. Our main focus is to improve soil biodiversity and we are doing that through the introduction of the No Dig method. Our goal is to create a garden that can be resilient against disease, fight weeds, maintain moisture & in turn allow for a full-time working, part-time adventuring lifestyle. In addition to growing in the garden, we are hard at work creating some of the most delicious sourdough loaves, herb infused goodies and other creative projects in the kitchen.

Everything we do here is an ode to the nearby salt marsh - a haven for wildlife and a place to paddle, fish and recreate. There is so much to come & we can’t wait to update the Slow Bloom Journal with all of our happenings and updates.

Happy Growing,

Stacy :)
